He cornered her against her desk and raised his hand to softly caress her cheek. She leaned into his touch as his thumb brushed gently over her lips. They stood there frozen for several minutes, neither daring to make the first move as thousands of words unspoken passed between them. Tired of waiting, she pressed her lips against his. His hand moved to the back of her head threading into her dark curls, pulling her closer and deepening the kiss. She tasted like chocolate, he thought as he felt her hands wrap around him as she tugged playfully at his bottom lip. Breathlessly, he pulled away and touched his forehead to hers.

“I think I love you,” he said.

“Terrified, aren’t we?!”

“I’m not afraid of you, Jane.”

“Oh! but you should be-“ he answered and leaned even closer, his eyes staring directly into hers, “-terrified.”

Lisbon blinked. She knew what was about to happen and despite her knowledge to the contrary, she could not and would not push him away. A short inhaled breath was all it took for Jane to close the gap and press his lips to hers. It was the softest, sweetest kiss she had ever received.

“Allow me. Oh, Lisbon?”

To her horror, Lisbon finds herself confronted by two wide smiles, one full of a confident charm, the other, gleeful mischief. She takes an involuntary step backwards.

“Lisbon...” A honeyed purr. She can't go anywhere. He's got both her hands in his, and she freezes like a rabbit in headlights. Oh, god, those intense sea-coloured eyes of his, all soft and sincere. “I'm sorry, but I have to do this...”

He looks deep into her eyes, and presses one slow, smouldering kiss...on the back of her hand.

Well, it works really well as a distraction for Lisbon, that's for sure. Works really well as a distraction for Jane too, until Smith grabs his sleeve, and they both pelt out of the door.

“Interesting technique there.”

“Yeah...”

He got up also and gave her a wide smile. He then leaned in close, “Trust me, I know everything,” he said barely over a whisper.

She took a step back, “Then tell me. What am I thinking right now?” she challenged.

He took a step closer.

“You’re thinking, ‘I wish Jane would shut up and kiss me already.’”

She took another step back, he took one forward. She was now backed up against the wall with nowhere to move. He was so close; she could feel his breath on her cheek. If she even nudged forward they would be pressed up against each other. Her heart was pounding in her chest and she sure she could hear his. Her eyes fell on his lips and she felt her knees drop. He was about to say something when she stopped him.

“Jane,” she whispered, “Shut up and kiss me already".

He smiled sweetly before he bent his head and captured her lips in a sweet, soft kiss. She drew her hands to his neck and replied easily. Finally they broke apart for need of air. She looked up at him and he thought he had never seen her look more beautiful; flustered as blush crept to her cheeks.

"We should talk." His hands found the edge of the desk on both sides of her hips, making sure she couldn't run. It brought them even closer than before, chests brushing with each breath they took. This was intimate, raw, and completely new to them. Earlier he had fallen on top of her but he'd gotten up so fast that he hadn't been able to relish in the warmth her body radiates. Now there was no hurry to back down, the panic in her eyes made him press a little a closer just to watch those pretty greens widen.

"I uh, I think..." To render Teresa Lisbon speechless was something he had become good at, but seeing her stammer like a fool made him proud of himself. This was something that was new. He had only managed this one a few rare times. Her mouth dropped open to form some kind of words but nothing came out, her eyes locked on his and time seemed to stand still.

The desire he felt rushing through his veins couldn't be stopped, he leaned down without warning and captured her lips in a sweet tender kiss before she could say anything else. One arm wrapped around her waist pulling her flush against his chest while the other found the dark silky locks he'd been aching to touch for weeks. She was hesitant at first but quickly kissed back letting her own hands find the lapels of his jacket to tug him closer. Maybe he was reading too much into things but it felt like her lips fit his perfectly, she matched the slow easy pace almost like they had been doing this for years. She was warm and so alive in his arms. Before he could get too carried away he reluctantly pulled back to meet her eyes.

"That uh that wasn't talking Jane." He flashed her a brilliant smile which she returned in full.

"Really? Hm. It was the best conversation I had all day."

Nominee: The Meaning of Chocolate

"What is this?" she finally asks, holding up the little chocolate and waiting for an answer.

"A Hershey's Kiss," replies Jane, casually leaning against the door with a little relaxed grin.

Lisbon rolls her eyes from her desk chair.

"I know that. I meant, what is it doing on my desk?"

"Well, I put it there, obviously," says Jane, talking as if she's a particularly dim-witted child.

She refuses to rise to the bait.

"Why?"

"It's symbolic. I thought the symbolism was quite obvious, myself."

Lisbon is stumped, and she frowns at him, rolling the chocolate between her fingers.

"What does that mean?" she finally asks, not sure if she wants to know the answer.

Jane gives another little grin, as if he takes delight in not giving her a straight answer.

"Symbolic?" he repeats. "It's when one thing - usually a noun - is used to represent or stand for something else -"

"I know what symbolic means," Lisbon interrupts with an annoyed huff. "I meant - what's it symbolic of?"

Jane, for the first time all morning, starts to look a little uneasy. Realizing she's quite serious, he stops leaning against the door and stands up straighter, looking at her seriously. He didn't expect to have to actually put it in words, and now he's not quite sure how. He takes a step closer to her, but seems wary of entering her personal space.

"It means..." he starts quietly, then stops, simply staring at her. "It means I want to give you the real thing, but... I can't."

“And what are you going to do take me to prison?” he asked her cheerfully a sickening glint in his eyes at he gazed at her throat and a small smile spread across her face.

“No quite” she responded before shooting off three rounds straight into his chest, into his heart. He died pretty much instantly. Outside she knew that Jane must have known what she had just down but he didn’t ask and she was grateful. Others may believe that he had been resisting arrest as she untied him and replaced his knife and gun in hand but Jane never would. He knew that she had done it for him.

She looked over at him and his bleeding knuckles and knew that in that moment something had changed about him. And for the first time he smiled at her, really smiled at her and without warning it seemed they were flinging themselves at each other and moulding themselves to one another. In her heeled pumps they were similar in height and there was no difficulty in their mouth finding another’s and crushing together. There nothing gentle in this kiss that was fuelled by long denied lust and frustration, her teeth tugging at his lip without any caution, his hand twisting into her hair almost painfully locking her mouth to his as his tongue pushed past the barrier of her lips and tangled immediately with hers.

He tasted faintly of peppermint mixed with the coopery tinge of blood.

His other hand trailed down her back cupping her arse in his hand, squeezing the soft flesh between his fingers while her own hands did their own exploring. Her hands ran down his arms and across his chest as they continued to kiss in mashing of lips, tongues and teeth. He bit her lip and she groaned into his mouth in response, her hands flying up to his hair and entangling themselves there. Heat engulfed her body like a flame, pooling in a red of flash of need and desire in her groin and chest.

He pulled away from her and crushed her to him and she knew in that moment that Patrick Jane had finally found some peace and she cried it gratitude as the two of them stood holding each other and crying in one another’s arms. It was finally over

I felt the faintest brush of his lips on my cheek, my jaw, and finally the corner of my mouth, before I felt them curve into a smile and he reached up, brushing my hair back as his lips found the hollow behind my ear and my eyes rolled back in my head as I had to remember that it was not OK to start moaning his name.

“Do you want me?” he whispered hotly into my ear as I bit my lips to keep a strangled moan from escaping. Oh my God, yes. I want you. You can take me right here. Or outside. Or back at my place. Just please don’t stop – I tried to speak, say something, anything, but nothing came out.

Actually, this wasn't the kiss in the story. But I thought this part deserved the nomination more #melting

She did as she was told and waited patiently for further instructions but was surprised when instead of receiving more directions she felt sweet pressure against her lips.

"Good night, Theresa" he said before placing another soft kiss at the corner of her lips and going to lie on what was now deemed 'his couch'. Once again, she was left completely stunned. By the time she had collected herself enough to enquire as to Jane's motives he was snoring softly on the sofa.

"Goodnight, Jane" she said softly, a smile tugging at her lips.
