Forgetting that all the girls (and guys, for the few that have joined us) are all from different countries, and not the good ole' USA, I was hoping for a Thanksgiving challenge. I am so embarrassed that I forgot that there aren't people who could actually do a Thanksgiving challenge because of that one fact.

And now, I hope I don't sound like an ugly American.

I guess I'll just have to wait until next month for a holiday themed challenge. (Fingers crossed). And for now, I'll have to figure out what to do with this challenge - if anything.

Holly, that's exactly the reason I didn't go for a Holiday themed challenge. A lot of our members (including myself) are not from the US and it would exclude a lot of members from it in one way or another. Personally, the only way I could write a Thanksgiving fic, for example, is by doing a lot of research and a hell of a lot of extrapolating - and even then because I've never celebrated it - and probably never will - it would still be woefully inaccurate for the perfectionist in me.

Besides, from what I know of the concept of Thanksgiving - I think it'd be a relatively limiting prompt. There's only so many ways you can write about it/illustrate it etc. Same with Christmas and any other holiday you care to name. Truth be told, I find a lot of Seasonal fics quite samey, through no fault of the author's - just simply because there are certain elements required simply to evoke the spirit of that holiday.

That being said, you could always write a Thanksgiving fic incorporating the prompt supplied.

There isn't going to be a challenge next month, because it'll be nearing Christmas, people will be tying up Big Bang fics and Rach probably has a few other tricks up her sleeve - though I cannot say that for certain.

There isn't going to be another gift exchange until 2011 - with signups opening in March and the exchange happening on (or near) the forum's 2nd anniversary. All my forum-activity-organising is being plunged into Big Bang right now.
