I know it's terribly early but I wanted to get this posted so that I can start planning out the logistics for the Second Annual Jello Fanfic Awards (aka the Jellies).
The following dates will be the deadlines (barring unforeseen mishaps which plagued us last time around).
Nominations commence: July 1st, 2010
Nominations close: July 31, 2010 at 11:59 p.m. PST
Voting commence: August 1st, 2010
Voting close: September 18, 2009 at 11:59 p.m. PST
Winners announced: September 23, 2010[/b]
Nominations will be considered in the following categories:
Best Author
Best Jello Romance
Best Jello Kiss
Best Jello Banter
Best Jello Confession
Best Jello Fight
Best Jello Make Up
Best Jello Angst
Best Jello Friendship
Best Beginning
Best Ending
Best Funny Moment
Best Fluff Moment
Best Inner Conflict Moment
Best Cliffhanger Moment
Best Tearjerker Moment
Best Comfort Moment
Best Wacky Moment
Best Dramatic Moment
Best Original Case
Best Original Character
Best Original Villain
Best Team Story
Best Oneshot
Best Short
Best Novel
Best Collection
Best Crossover
In addition to the ones we had last year, we will also consider nominations for the following new categories:
Best New Author
Best Reviewer
Best Jello Established Relationship
Best Alternative Ship
Best Red John
Best Seasonal
Best Episode Tag
Fics need to be complete in order to be considered with the only exception in the 'Best Collection' category. Also, individual oneshots in a collection can be nominated for any of the moments, just provide the name of the collection and the name of the chapter in your nomination.
In order to nominate/vote, please register with tromana by sending a PM to Tracie with the subject: 2010 Jellies Voting Registration. In order to be eligible to vote, you need to be a member of the forum who signed up prior to July 1st, 2010. The one exception I will make is that if you're an author that has been nominated.
When nominating, please provide the title of the fic, the author, the rating and a link to the story. For specific "moments," you will need to include an excerpt from the fic pertaining to the category (these are explained in more detail in the nomination threads).
You are allowed to nominate a maximum of two fics per category but this year you will not be allowed to nominate your own work. Fics nominated in last year's Jellies cannot be nominated again. Reference list can be found here! However, a series that has been added to, since August 8th, 2009, can be re-nominated.
In the event there are less than five nominees, Tracie, Kai, Div and myself will pick the rest to fill out the category.
The number of votes you get per category is determined by the number of nominees in that category. One vote for five nominees, two votes for ten and etc. The number of votes you will get will be clearly displayed in each voting thread.
Read all the fics that are nominated and carefully choose the ones that you think deserve the awards. I know you'll be tempted to vote for your friend's fics (or your own), but try to keep an open mind and stay objective. I'm hoping we don't get too many ties because everyone voted for their own fic.
In the event of a tie, I'm bestowing tie breaking duties to my three moderators, Tracie, Kai and Div. They will decide who wins. If they feel that two fics both deserve the award, I have no problem having co-winners, but no more than two. If the tie in question involves any of the moderators, the remaining moderators and myself will break the tie as fairly as I can.
Once again, the prizes will include personalized (and priceless) banners <cue 'ooohing and awwwing' reel> which will be awarded to the winning authors/works for each category. Also as an added bonus this year, you will win a small drabble (care of Tracie) and a small sketch (care of Chibi)!
Advertise the Jellies everywhere you go! Tell everyone you know that loves the show about the awards. Get them to sign up on this forum, nominate and vote!
Well, that's it for now. Keep checking closer to the dates posted above and let's make this Jellies bigger and better than last year!
